Cog Cookies with a Tutorial!

Alright, for something slightly different, I have some cog cookies to share with you! They are really fun and easy to make, all you need is cookie dough, a plastic cup (I think I used a 16 oz one, its been a while but that sounds right), and a tall, thin shot glass (a regular shot glass is too big). All you do is roll out your dough, use the plastic cup to cut out circles (or I guess you could use a big circle cookie cutter… I don’t have one though), and then use the shot glass (or small circle cookie cutter) to cut out the middle and then six semicircles around the edges. That’s it! They should look like this before cooking:

Then just cook them up and eat them! They puffed up a good amount after cooking, don’t worry:

Just try to use a fairly solid dough, I used peanut butter cookie mix because that was all I had, and they sort or just fell apart after I cooked them. I think I sugar cookie would hold up much better. Enjoy!

Steampunk Collage

I thought I’d feature another thing I received in a Craftster.org swap today, a beautiful collage by RoaneFaery in the Multi-Themed Steampunk Swap. It incorporates a bunch of different themes, and it has my user name in the corner! I especially like the paper used for the zeppelin.

Whoops!

Looks like I missed a day already. Oh well, I don’t think anyone is going to be too torn up about it. Anyway, today’s Steampunk find is something I made for my very first Craftster.org swap, and one of my first Steampunk pieces. I was sad to let it go, but now I can’t wait to send things out to people!

Its made from a real vintage (and broken) watch case, a watch face, real gears, vintage pearls (from a broken pendant), and a “time” tile from my mom. I really need to start making more jewelry, I love this one so much!

More Swap Goodies

I think a large part of these posts will just be about the awesome stuff that people on Craftster.org have made… and today is no exception. These are the charms I received in the Steampunk Charm Swap I mentioned earlier this week, I really can’t pick a favorite!

Crocheting (An Addiction)

So I must confess, I am completely obsessed with crocheting. I make everything from shrugs to amigurumi (I have a steamy one to share at a later date) and if I’m not crocheting I feel a bit useless…

Anyway, today’s Steampunk goodie is a pattern for crocheted cogs! I have made a few of them, but sadly I never took any pictures. I think I may need to make some more and sew them into a table runner!

If you make any, feel free to share, I’d love to see!

First things first

I’ve decided to set up a little blog to share all my favorite Steampunk (or at least slightly Steamy) things that I’ve found around the internet, and maybe some things I’ve made myself! I’m actually going to start out with some charms that I made for a Craftster Steampunk charm swap! I hope you like them, I received some gorgeous charms in return. I never got pictures of them myself, and I’m missing pictures of one of them (it looks very similar to the butterfly one though!). These pictures were taken by my partners.
